Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy treats disease using the most natural medicine of all - food.

This concept is not new.  As early as the 17-century sailors warded off scurvy using citrus fruits, which we now know was successful due to their high vitamin C content.  Today, conditions such as spina bifida are prevented using folic acid during pregnancy; iron supplements are given to anaemic patients and those suffering from celiac disease benefit from a gluten-free diet.  More dramatically, scientific research has shown that conditions such as heart disease respond extremely well to nutritional treatment and that the incidence of cancer can be reduced using diet.  For this reason, irrespective of the nature or severity of a health condition, and whether or not it has been said that ‘nothing else can be done', Nutritional Therapy can help.

The reason Nutritional Therapy can treat such a diversity of conditions is due to its holistic approach.  For each condition the aim is to identify the unique set of problematic factors that cause the symptoms of disease.  These could include anything from nutritional deficiencies, allergies or hormonal imbalances to lifestyle or environmental influences.  The next step is then to correct these imbalances using food, exercise, supplements and lifestyle changes, as required.  Once the problematic factors are eliminated the body can regain natural balance and begin to function optimally once more.  To ensure the body remains balanced a maintenance plan is always recommended for future health.
